"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world." -C.S. Lewis

Listening
Heat... blistering heat. Life, sounds, quiet, peace, love...
Waking up early in the morning,
sitting under a leafy green tree with sweet smells,
drinking your pulp-free orange juice,
writing a story on your lap top that rests on your lap, as you criss-cross your legs,
watching the sun rise to a bright, lovely, peaceful day,
listening to the silence.
Appreciating life,
typing a term paper under that same tree,
watching people walk by, chattering away,
seeing the world through a window,
listening to the people, the breathing of the world.
Staring out the window,
talking with your friends of life or unimportant matters,
the dark covering the world,
but it's not oppressing... no, it's the quiet dark of a world gone to sleep,
to rest and awake even more fantastic the next day,
a striking sunset, colors melt into each other,
milky creams, lavenders and lilacs, azures, midnight blues, brilliant pinks and splashes of orange.
Life,
it's the sum of all those things.
Pain, bitter, stinging, comes.
But when you can watch the sun rise,
and you can watch the sun set,
the brilliant colors of a new day to come,
lift your spirits up with angels' fingers.
And that's all you need.
