My Views on Education
If I were in government, I would get rid of tests. I would have us learn the words of Shakespeare and the history of all peoples everywhere. I would have us learn to do service, and basic or a little advanced math. Advanced science, though. It's good to know how things work. But math, we only teach those incredibly hard math problems because you'll need to know them if you become a math teacher and need to teach people them too (math isn't my favorite subject). If you really want to study math and become a mathematician, you should be able to. That shouldn't be forced on everyone.
But those who want to should be encouraged to do so.
Everyone should go to college, and use their minds in their jobs. Teachers should be paid a lot. They should love their jobs. They should be educated and enjoy educating. Everyone should have a high standard for learning. Even students should want to go to school. Teachers should be kind, understanding, and work just as hard at preparing their lessons as students take time answering their questions and doing their homework. People should be able to stand up for their beliefs. School should be a good place with a good atmosphere. We should be learning the words of great speakers and statesmen, reading the biographies of people like Florence Nightingale and Theodore Roosevelt.
Hard work and intelligence should always be rewarded and encouraged, and stupid restrictions should never apply. School should not be a competition, but a bettering and a try at perfection for each person. Each person should learn to be kind. School should not equal stress. Hard work, acceptance, joy, understanding, reveling in good and intelligence. That should be school. Inspiration. Learning to speak well and communicate well. Learning to be people. Learning to participate in government. Teachers, other students, quotes on the walls, healthy food, actual exercise in gym classes, inspiration, and learning, and light. Appreciation.
How do you do it when there isn't enough money and everyone would have to want to cooperate. Everyone would have to want to be better. How do you do it?
