"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world." -C.S. Lewis

After Rain
After the rain,
Sugary leaves
Climb up to their treetops.
They were so rudely knocked down.
After the rain,
Voices tap on window panes,
Soft and quiet,
And ready for rain.
After the rain,
The rocking chair pauses,
And little feet patter
Over floorboards
After the rain,
The worms sink down into the earth
And the birds
Rest on blades of grass,
Green and bowing
With rain.
After the rain,
The light in the window turns on,
And she peers out,
Nose smashed up against the glass
To watch the clouds breathe
after the rain.
