Price above Rubies

While mom and dad have been away in the Berkshires, I've been able to see how amazing the women of the church are, all around me. They have been kind and smiling and willing to reach out when I'm alone. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon at the S' house, until about nine o'clock. Sister S. had invited me over the day before, and I came after school to wait until J. and B. came home. Right when I walked in the door, I was showered with hot chocolate (the really good kind, the one in the silvery packets that you only get for Christmas) and steaming mugs. She hugged me and asked me to have dinner with them the next day, when I told her I'd been afraid at home, alone, while it was raining. :) It turns out that a huge house is frightening when you're the only organism, or are you? inside it. I checked for mass murderers or frightened, psychopathic adults in the closets and the bathroom, but I didn't find any. At Sister S.'s house, it was warm and quiet. For some reason, when I walk inside, it always feels like a combination of Christmas spirit and fall decorations. We had an amazing dinner (she sent me home with a lot of extra, amazing pasta) and then she had me make lunches with the most amazing lunch meat and bakery bread, for J. and B. and me. Goodness. Then she drove me home with a plate of hot chocolate packets. Somehow, somehow, amazing people find a way to exist in this world. "She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of akindness."

That's my favorite line from that proverb: "her tongue is the law of kindness."

Also, the part about her ships from afar.

Righteous women. They can be pretty awesome.
