Plastic Spoons
My sister Sarah once let me listen to a song that she liked a lot. It was very interesting and I decided to write about it.
The line in the song that I am writing about goes, "and we'll carve out our heaven with plastic spoons". It's odd, but in a way, kind of thoughtful. I mean, what made this song artist decide that she'd carve out her heaven with plastic spoons? Why couldn't it have been "and we'll carve out our heaven with metal forks" or purple socks or something like that? I'm not sure that the artist just wrote down something to sing it, I think she thought about this and then decided what to use. Now I am going to write down something that happened to me that I think relate to "plastic spoons".
A few weeks ago, my brother Peter, my dad, and I went to North Carolina so we could do family history there. My dad would stop at people's houses and asked if our ancestors' names "rung a bell". Peter and I didn't have anything to do, so we wrote little notes to eachother to entertain ourselves.
On one note I wrote down a poem and asked if Peter thought It was good. Peter joked about it and then I wrote "I bet you could write a better one". A few minutes later, Peter gave me 3 short lines, of which I'll tell you two. "Life flings peace one way, war the next. Truth lies in words of doubt". I thought straight away that he got it from a book, but he admitted that he had just written down any old thing and tried to make it poetic. I began to think, had Peter just written down some nonsense thing or, without himself knowing, thought so hard about it that it became a "plastic spoons" poem? We'll never know, but I will always remember to "carve out my heaven with plastic spoons.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure who you are, but do you know me?
The family trip wasn't boring, actually. We got to see a lot of different places in North Carolina, and my brother and I played "Travel Scrabble". At the library, I helped find things, but mostly sat in a corner reading "Ender's Game".
I'd liked to know who you are.
And also, do you know how to find out how many people have visited your blog?
Thanks again.
